Wirksworth is well connected geographically with major UK cities (Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham & Derby) easily accessible

By Road:

By car, Wirksworth is approximately 30 minutes from the M1 motorway (leaving from Jn24 to Jn 29) and just under 3 hours from London.

​

By Car – From Birmingham, Derby, Nottingham or the M1

Take the A38 or A6 towards Derby and follow signs for the A6 and Matlock. Follow the A6 until you reach the outskirts of Duffield. Turn left at the traffic lights onto the B5023 “Broadway”, which is signposted Wirksworth. Follow this road for about 9 miles to reach Wirksworth Market Place.

 

From Ashbourne, Carsington Water or Leek

Take the B5035 and follow signs for Wirksworth. For Market Place, at Godfreyhole turn right and come down into the town to the Market Place.

From Cromford, Matlock or Matlock Bath

When entering Cromford take the B5036 at the junction with the A6, signposted Wirksworth and come up Cromford Hill. Carry straight on past the petrol station and under the arch. Shortly after the overhead footbridge you will arrive in Wirksworth Market Place.

By Plane – Wirksworth is well served by a number of airports. As you would expect for such a well-connected town, we are close to from Birmingham &  Manchester Airports, while East Midlands is really convenient (approximately one hour’s journey).

By Train-

Cromford, Matlock, Whatstandwell all reachable in under 15 minutes, with Derby, Sheffield or Chesterfield also in easy distance
